Terms of Service
The short version
- Shulkerboxes gives you a free Minecraft: Java Edition server. It is free because we record gameplay on it and license de-identified datasets built from it.
- You need to be in the US and invited.
- Your world is yours. Play fair, and nothing illegal on your server.
- We work hard to keep servers up, but there is no uptime promise. Download your world now and then.
- The service is free and provided as is. If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to $100 (section 10).
This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what apply.
1. The service
Shulkerboxes is free hosting for Minecraft: Java Edition servers, operated by Adaptive Perception, Inc. (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or running a server, you agree to these terms.
These terms cover your account and the servers you own. Players who join a server don’t sign anything here; they see a short notice in the game when they join, and accept it before they play.
2. Who can use it
You need to be in the US. You need a Minecraft account that you own, and an email address you can be reached at. Shulkerboxes is invite-only for now: you need an invite link or code, or an email address we approved.
3. Your account and your server
Keep your sign-in to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account, on your server, and for the players who join it.
4. Acceptable use
- Nothing illegal on your server or in your world.
- No harassing, threatening or targeting people.
- No selling cheats or hacked clients, and no running cheating services.
- Don’t attack or overload Shulkerboxes, other servers, or anyone else from our servers.
5. Your world
We don’t claim ownership of your world or what you and your players build in it. You let us store, copy, run and back up your world to provide the service, and record gameplay on it as described in section 6.
Want your saved world? Ask us and we will send it.
6. Gameplay recording and datasets
Shulkerboxes is free because we record gameplay on every server, build AI datasets from the recordings, and license those datasets to other companies. The datasets are de-identified. Every player sees the notice and chooses to play recorded or unrecorded.
By running a server here, you agree that players on it see the notice, and that recorded gameplay may be used as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Stopping a server or an account
We can stop or delete a server that breaks these terms. We can also delete a server that sits unused for a long time; we’ll email you first so you can download the world.
You can delete your server at any time, and ask us to delete your account. When a server is deleted, we keep its saved world for 30 days, then delete it.
8. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep your server up and your world safe, but we can’t promise any uptime. Download your world now and then if it matters to you.
We may change or end the service. If we do, we’ll tell you ahead of time by email or in our Discord, so you can download your world.
9. No warranties
Shulkerboxes is free and provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, as far as the law allows.
10. Limitation of liability
10.1 As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, including lost worlds or data and lost profits.
10.2 As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about Shulkerboxes or these terms is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Shulkerboxes is free, so today that is $100.
10.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as liability for fraud, for injury we cause on purpose, or for breaking the law. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.
11. Minecraft
Minecraft is made by Mojang and Microsoft. Shulkerboxes is not an official Minecraft product, and we aren’t approved by or connected with Mojang or Microsoft. Your servers also follow the Minecraft rules for servers.
12. Governing law
California law applies to these terms, and any dispute goes to the courts in California. If you have a problem, please email us first; most things get sorted out that way.
13. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we update the date at the top and post about it in our Discord.
